The Room is Bright, There is Serenity Within It

The room is bright, there is serenity within it.
Flowers freshly picked in a vase on her table.
Photographs and pictures of the family she loves,
show visitors just what a loved lady she is.

The life she had when she was well,,
Her bed freshly made, all crisp and clean.
The chair she sits in, the knitting she does,
not often now.

Sweets in a bowl for her to eat, when she feels she can.
The staff tell me she eats, all be it small,
Helps me feel better inside.

She's been here two long years,
Oh' how it seems longer, to me at least.
When I look at her now I know,
That our love has stood the test of time.

A long time ago we both said 'I do'.
We said it would be' For Life'.
The phrase 'For Life', is now drawing to an end,
You see I am here today to say 'Goodbye',
To this woman who has been my wife, my friend,
.
I am not unhappy nor yet sad at this moment,
because as she looks at me her eyes say it all,
'You mean everything to me'
They speak to me from the depth of her soul.

They turn her chair, out the window she stares,
Her eyes tell me' have no regrets love'.
Today is the day we have our last cuddle.
I want to tell her how much I love her.
I will stay for as long as I can.

My wife will be gone by this time tomorrow,
for now I fight back my tears and sorrows.
They will flow when I am on my own.

There is peace in this room, love as well.
You can tell when you enter in.
I am grateful for all the love she has had.
My lasting memories will be of this.
